The changing seasons are a pleasant feature of Midwest living. Leaving the heat and humidity of our Nebraska summers behind for the chill of fall is one of my favorite changes. I have enjoyed the vibrant colors of my summer flowers. But, I also love to watch the colors leave the plants as they prepare to die over winter. I know if I prune and water, add a little fertilizer, they will return in the spring for my enjoyment. I love to compare this physical truth with the spiritual one found in John 11:25. In The Message translation it reads, “You don’t have to wait for the End. I am, right now, Resurrection and Life. The one who believes in me, even though he or she dies, will live. And everyone who lives believing in me does not ultimately die at all. Do you believe this?”
I am a believer and I claim this promise for myself. As I age and add to the list of physical ailments wearing out my body, I look forward with hope that I will get a new perfect body when I get to heaven. Free of pain, disease, sin, and sorrow, I will spend eternity worshipping my creator and savior Jesus Christ. Would you like to have this hope for yourself? It’s as simple as A, B, C.
Admit that you are a sinner, that you do, say, and think things that disobey God and need a sacrifice to pay for your sin.
Believe that Jesus death on the cross paid the penalty for all your sins. He rose again on the third day and lives in heaven waiting for you to come when you die.
Confess, or tell, God that you believe and want to live your life according to His plan for you.
There is nothing else you need to know, do, or say to add to this decision. Ephesians 2:8-9, Living Bible says 8 Because of his kindness, you have been saved through trusting Christ. And even trusting is not of yourselves; it too is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good we have done, so none of us can take any credit for it.
Don’t let Satan convince you that you are too bad to be saved. No one is beyond the grace and mercy of God. He loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.
